Cozumel Charities: Please Help DIF with an Ongoing Personal Need by Nancy Murray De Anda

I want to talk today about something really important, the ongoing need for ostomy bags, kits and products at DIF. It is an uncomfortable topic, not as heartwarming as donating for kids or puppies, but it is a serious need.
Everyone deserves to live with dignity, and good hygiene. And although here are ostomy bags that are re-usable, many DIF patients are having to clean out disposable bags for reuse, and this is just unacceptable.
The problem is worse, because this is an ongoing need – these folks will be using these bags for the rest of their lives – so a fundraiser or a one-time donation, although GREATLY appreciated, will only have me writing another request for help in a few months.
So I had an idea… with the 16,000 plus subscribers we have at Cozumel 4 You, I thought I could throw it out to you to for ideas on how we can help. Someone, someone must work in the field or have a connection to an outlet for ostomy supplies. Perhaps some might be interested in sponsoring a patient, and helping out – or someone will have a brilliant idea that will answer our prayers.
Through the years, folks have been kind enough, answering the call for the ongoing need for baby formula, diapers and adult diapers, but the colostomy thing just tends to ook people out, and it shouldn’t…. we all gotta go… maybe we can just make the go a bit more dignified for some of our less fortunate neighbors.

Bien, ahora que ya tengo su atención, podemos dejar las risitas….bien, ¿ya están tranquilos. Excelente.

Hoy deseo hablar acerca de algo verdaderamente importante, y esto es la necesidad que el DIF tiene de bolsas de ostomía, equipos y productos. Es un tema incómodo, no tan alentador como dar donativos a niños o perritos, pero existe esta gran necesidad.
Todos merecen vivir con dignidad e higiene. Y a pesar de que aquí hay bolsas de ostomía, reutilizables, para muchos pacientes del DIF les es necesario limpiar las bolsas desechables para reutilizar y esto es ciertamente inaceptable.
El problema es todavía peor ya que es algo que se necesita constantemente; estas personas utilizan las bolsas durante el resto de sus vidas, por lo tanto una recaudación de fondos o un donativo, será MUY agradecido; sólo escribiré dentro de unos meses para algún otro apoyo .
Así que se me ocurrió una idea… con los más de 16,000 suscritores con los que cuenta Cozumel 4You, consideré que podríamos pedirles algunas ideas para poder ayudar. Alguien, alguien debe trabajar en el medio o tener una conexión con algún negocio que se dedique al suministro de equipo de ostomía. Tal vez alguien esté interesado en patrocinar a un paciente y así ayudar; o alguien posiblemente tendrá una brillante idea que responderá nuestras oraciones.
A través de los años, la gente ha sido muy amable respondiendo a la necesidad permanente de formula para bebés, pañales y pañales para personas adultas, pero en cuanto a la cuestión con la colostomía la gente dice que lo entiende, pero ello no es suficiente ya que todos debemos colaborar, posiblemente podamos dar un poco más de dignidad a algunos de nuestros vecinos menos afortunados.
