A Great Way to Help Cozumel: Donate to the Rotary Club & Help Community Kitchens

We know you want to help.  So many of you are reaching out for information on where to donate.  The Cocinas Comunitaria project is fully operational and needs your help.

This is the organization feeding the most people throughout the island from 10 different fully functional kitchens set up in the most vulnerable areas.  They prepare thousands of meals every day. Two separate organizations, Fundación Cozumel and the Cozumel Club Rotario have been working together to provide the kitchens with food, cleaning materials and safety equipment.

They have also recruited local business to help in their efforts. An oversight committee made up of both the FC and Cozumel Rotary distribute the funds to purchase goods with full transparency and assure that 100% of all donations go directly to all of the kitchens and distributed based on their needs.

That being said…we need more donations.  As time passes and with tourism at a stand still the number of people who need our help is growing.  We ask that you please make a donation of any amount to help increase the number of meals for distribution.

Las cocinas comunitarias. Una gran manera de ayudar a Cozumel con Rotario Cozumel

Sabemos que quieren ayudar, Muchos de ustedes buscan información acerca de dónde se pueden hacer donaciones. El proyecto de Cocinas Comunitarias opera plenamente y requiere de su ayuda.

Esta organización se dedica a dar alimento a personas en la Isla a través de 10 cocinas que operan en las zonas más vulnerables. Preparan miles de comidas todos los días. Dos organizaciones distintas, la Fundación Cozumel y el Club Rotario Cozumel, han estado colaborando para dar alimentos, materiales de limpieza y equipo de seguridad a las cocinas.

También han recurrido a diversos negocios locales para que apoyen los esfuerzos. Un comité de vigilancia formado por la FC y Rotarios de Cozumel, distribuyen los fondos para la adquisición de alimentos, realizándose con total transparencia y cerciorándose que 100% de todos los donativos se vayan directamente a las cocinas y se distribuyan de acuerdo con sus necesidades.

Dicho esto…necesitamos más donativos. Conforme transcurre el tiempo y con el turismo paralizado, el numero de personas que necesitan nuestra ayuda va en aumento. Les pedimos que realicen un donativo, sin importar la cifra, para ayudar a amentar la cantidad de comidas para distribuir.

An ex-Connecticut Yankee who has called Cozumel home for over 18 years, Laura ran away to the Caribbean years ago, bumped around the islands teaching SCUBA diving, lost some time in Jamaica, and finally stopped in Cozumel for a 2 week vacation that hasn’t ended yet. Her long suffering husband, Fabian, has long since resigned himself to having zero private life, as he’s been involved in her various schemes and plots since his arrival. Una ex yanqui de Connecticut quien llama hogar a Cozumel desde hace más de 15 años. Laura escapó al Caribe hace años, desplazándose de una isla a otra dando clases de BUCEO. Se dedicó a perder el tiempo en Jamaica y finalmente se detuvo en Cozumel para pasar unas vacaciones de 2 semanas que aún no terminan. Convenciendo a sus padres que pagaran una elegante universidad privada, obtuvo su título en Periodismo y Laura crea semanalmente Cozumel 4You, medios sociales y artículos promocionales sobre la Isla y también es moderadora en el grupo Cozumel 4 You en Facebook que actualmente cuenta con 25,000 miembros. Fabián, s umuy tolerante marido, desde hace mucho tiempo se resignó a no tener vida privada, pues se ha visto implicado en los diversos proyectos y planes que urde Laura. Son orgullosos padres de diversos perros y gatos rescatados. Mientras contempla su paso a través de la vida en el Caribe mexicano,Laura continúa siendo la pesadilla en la existencia de su muy tradicional suegra mexicana.
