“Oceanman” Event May Come to Cozumel

Cozumel may have added yet another international sporting event to the growing collection of triathlon, diving, free diving, and water sports competitions, with the addition of the “Oceanman” open water swim event.

If Cozumel secures this event, the island would be the only location in the North American continent with an Oceanman event.   Popular destinations such as Orta, Italy and Palamos,Spain already are hosts, to Oceanman events.

According to the official Oceanman website, registration for the Cozumel event starts March 1st.  For more information, feel free to check out their website.

Parece ser que Cozumel agrega otro evento internacional a su colección de competencias en triatlón, buceo, buceo libre y acuáticas con Oceanman, el evento de nado en aguas abiertas.

Si Cozumel logra obtener este evento, la Isla se convertirá en el único sitio del continente norteamericano donde se realice el Oceanman. Destinos populares tales como Orta en Italia y Palamos, España, ya son anfitriones de eventos Oceanman.

De acuerdo al sitio oficial de Oceanman, el registro para el evento en Cozumel  inicia el 1º de marzo. Para mayores detalles, echen un vistazo a su sitio web.

Valentine's Day Collective Wedding: 27 Years of Cozumel Tradition

For 27 years now, the Cozumel Civil Registry  has celebrated February 14th, by holding free group nuptials. This year over twenty couples have registered to participate, and will be married in a ceremony conducted by the Civil Registry Official, Lic. Bernardo Alonso Marrufo, on Valentine’s Day. 

Two years ago, on the 25th anniversary of one of Cozumel’s sweetest traditions over 30 couples  “tied the knot” on February 14th. 

Boda colectiva el Día de San Valentín: 27 años de tradición en Cozumel

Desde hace 27 años el Registro Civil de Cozumel celebra el 14 de febrero con bodas colectivas. Este año se han más de veinte parejas se han registrado y  el Día de San Valentín serán unidas por el Oficial del Registro Civil el Lic. Bernardo Alonso Marrufo. 

Hace dos años, durante el 25º aniversario de una de las tradiciones más dulces de Cozumel, más de 30 parejas se dieron el “si”.

Humane Society Pets of the Week

Rhonda, Female dog, 3 years old, weight 12.1 kg. Rhonda was reported because she was living in an apartment complex without an owner.  In fact, she was pregnant and actually gave birth to her puppies there.  After that she was brought to our HSCI Shelter.  She’s a very calm and quiet dog, who would love a nice safe place.   
Constantine – Male kitten, 3 months, weight 1.1 kg. He  and his two siblings were abandoned in our Vet Tech Justin’s patio one morning. He brought them into work because they were starving and had parasites. Now they are healthy and safe and play all day long in their cattery. They are super curious and would love a forever home.

PLEASE: Volunteer at the shelter, it is so important for the dogs and cats to get hug-a-therapy, you can walk our dogs or play with the puppies and cats Monday to Saturday 11am to 1pm and 3pm to 4:30pm and Sundays 11am to 3pm children must come with a responsible grown up. Our pets love the attenttion and you'll have a nice day.

Las Mascotas de la Semana de la Sociedad Humanitaria

Rhonda – Perra de 3 años de edad; pesa 12.1 kg. Se reportó a Rhonda ya que vivía en unos departamentos y sin dueño. Se encontraba embarazada y, de hecho, ahí tuvo a sus cachorros. Después de eso, la trajeron al albergue. Es muy tranquila; le encantaría tener un hogar seguro.

Constantine – gatito de 3meses de edad; pesa 1.1 kg. Una mañana, tanto él como sus hermanos fueron abandonados en el patio de Justin, nuestro Técnico Veterinario. Los trajo al trabajo ya que estaban hambrientos y tenían parásitos. Ahora están sanos y seguros; juegan todo el día en el criadero de gatos. Son sumamente curiosos y les encantaría encontrar un hogar permanente. 

POR FAVOR: Ofrezcan ser voluntarios en el refugio; es muy importante que los perros reciban una terapia de cariño. Pueden llevar a caminar a nuestros perros o jugar con los cachorros y gatos todos los días de lunes a sábado, de 11 a.m. a 1 p.m. y de 3 a 4:30 p.m. Los niños deben venir con un adulto responsable. A nuestras mascotas les encanta la atención y ustedes pasaran un día agradable.

Chrysalis Fourth Annual Chrysalis 5k Fun Run/Walk: Sunday February 21st

Chrysalis is proud to announce the Fourth Annual Chrysalis 5k Fun Run/Walk, to be held Sunday, February 21st. Registration from 7am-8am, race starts at 8am. Entry fee of 150 pesos will include a t-shirt and a raffle ticket. Prizes awarded to the top male and female finishers in 5 age categories and in the category of "Different Capabilities". Many raffle prizes will also be available.

We start at Airport Road and the waterfront (Sedena) racing north to Hotel B and back. All proceeds to benefit the Cozumel Chrysalis Group, helping students in Cozumel reach their full potential through education. Plan to join local Cozumeleños, ex-pats and visiting guests with this great fundraiser!

Cuarta carrera/caminata de 5k del grupo Chrysalis, el domingo 21 de febrero

Chrysalis se enorgullece al anunciar su Cuarta Carrera/Caminata 5k que se realizará el domingo 21 de febrero. El registro es de 7 a 8 a.m.; la competencia inicia a las 8a.m. El costo del registro es 150 pesos, e incluye una camiseta y boleto para la rifa. Se premiarán los mejores de5 categorías, masculina y femenina, así como la de Capacidades Diferentes.  También habrán muchos premios en la rifa.

La competencia inicia en la avenida del aeropuerto y malecón (Sedena), hasta llegar al norte del Hotel B y de regreso. Todo lo que se recaude será en beneficio del grupo Chrysalis Cozumel quien brinda apoyo a estudiantes de Cozumel para que éstos alcancen su máximo potencial a través de la educación. Haga planes para unirse a los cozumeleños, ex patriados y visitantes en esta gran recaudación.

Los Cinco Soles Boutique Opens with Style by Aaron Kirkham, Sales Manager, Cinco Soles

Cozumel has become known for more than the beauty of the island but additionally for it’s modern fashion. It is  this mini-culture that has catapulted Los Cinco Soles newest venture, Los Cinco Soles Boutique. With two remodeled locations in the Downtown Cozumel and in  Puerta Maya  the boutique is creating a Cozumel fashion craze. The boutique features the newest styles from Mexican based lines such as  Maria de Guadalajara, Cecilia Nathal, and Dunes. The international recognition that these lines bring to Los Cinco Soles Boutique have created a premier, one of a kind boutique only found on Cozumel Island.

The downtown location has moved it’s boutique right next to the silver section which is just to right on the main entrance. This boutique show cases the largest selection of clothing options and silver jewelry in all of the Los Cinco Soles stores. The Puerta Maya location is a cute mixture of modern styles with classic favorites. This store highlights the accessories that accompany the newest selection of modern Mexican fashion.

Luxury Clean abre un nuevo local en la Avenida 65  -  Felicitaciones a Joshua y a Alexis por la apertura de su nuevo y remodelado local Luxury Clean. Luxury Clean utiliza un sistema de inyección y succión de agua importado además de productos naturales especiales para tratar manchas especificas, incluyendo sangre, vino e incluso manchas causadas por mascotas.
