Meet the Cozumel4You Admin Team: Nancy Murray de Anda

Editors  Note:  Now that Cozumel 4 You is nearing it’s 10^th year, we thought we’d take a moment, and introduce you to the hard-working administrator staff, who monitor the Cozumel 4 You Facebook group.  We’ve asked them a series of questions, in the hope that readers would have the opportunity to get to know them better.

Nancy Murray came to Cozumel by way of South Florida, where she worked for the Barbachano family in the Sales office for Club Cozumel Caribe, back when Buccanos was a hotel.  Tired of communting between Miami and Cozumel, she accepted the position of Sales Manager for La Ceiba, Casa Del Mar and Del Mar Aquatics and moved here permanently – before the Berdegue Family bought La Ceiba, to add to the El Cid chain.

After getting married, and tiring of constant trade show travel she settled down after having built her first house and used her building and sales experience and lept into the glamorous life of Real Estate.

How long?   After a few years of a Miami-Cozumel commute, I moved here permanently in 1999.

What made me move? I was offered a position that was perfect for me… promoting this Island that I love. 

Favourite things?   Similar to my little home town of Hingham, MA, we really have a great sense of community here. Neighbors look after neighbors, as it should be. The people here are so generous – I am often called on to raise funds for certain causes and folks are so kinds to offer assistance in any way that they can. It is a wonderful feeling to know that you are not alone

Personal life: Married since 2002 to a handsome Chilango, we have one son who is soon to be a teen – ugh. I wouldn’t have wanted to raise him anyplace else than this Island paradise. A quiet, laid back place where kids get to be kids longer… great bilingual schools and two cultures – best of both worlds. Much to hubby’s dismay, we have had a variety of furry animals at our house over the years, as I can’t not help where it’s needed – no matter how many legs, 2 or 4. Family back home originally not to happy about my move, but with so many trips over the years, they not only understand, but now seem to be visiting with an excelerated frequency – and I love it!

What do I do for a living? I am a licensed Real Estate agent, I work for Cozumel Living, and have for some time now. I love finding the perfect match for my clients.

Favorite admin moment: I had a lot of fun with a duck post a few years ago….

Someone considering a move: There are no dumb questions… ask away! This Island is very welcoming and there are some great people here who will help make the transaction a smooth one – but, as friendly as Cozumel is,  this is not the US. You’ll have to adapt to the Island because the Island won’t adapt to you. And let’s be honest, that’s why you came here in the first place.

Nota de la Editora: Ya que Cozumel 4 You sea acerca al 10º año, consideramos dedicar unos momentos y presentarles al equipo administrativo que tan arduamente trabaja y quienes supervisan el grupo Cozumel4You de Facebook. Les hemos hecho una serie de preguntas con la esperanza de que los lectores tengan la oportunidad de conocerlos mejor.

Nancy Murray llegó a Cozumel desde el sur de Florida donde trabajó con la familia Barbachano en la oficina de Ventas del Club Cozumel Caribe, cuando Buccanos era un hotel. Cansada de viajar entre Miami y Cozumel, acepto el puesto de Gerente de Ventas para La Ceiba, Casa del Mar y Del Mar Aquatics, y se mudó para acá de manera permanente, antes de que la familia Berdegue comprara La Ceiba para incluirla a la cadena El Cid.

Después de contraer matrimonio y cansarse del constante viajar a ferias comerciales, se estableció después de construir su primera casa y uso su experiencia en construcción y ventas, y se adentró a la glamorosa vida de Bienes Raíces.

¿Hace cuánto? Después de varios años de viajar entre Miami y Cozumel, me mudé para acá de forma permanente en 1999.

¿Qué hizo que me mudara? Recibí la oferta para ocupar un puesto que fue perfecta para mi… promoviendo la Isla que amo.

¿Cosas favoritas? Al igual que mi pequeña ciudad natal de Hingham, MA, aquí tenemos un gran sentido de comunidad. Los vecinos cuidan de los vecinos, tal como debe ser. La gente es muy generosa. Con frecuencia me llaman para recaudar fondos para ciertas causas y la gente siempre ofrece su ayuda de toda manera que les sea posible. Es una sensación maravillosa saber que no se está solo.

Vida personal: Contraje matrimonio desde el 2002 con un guapo chilango; tenemos un hijo que en poco tiempo se convertirá en adolescente…¡uff! No hubiera querido criarlo en ninguno otro lugar que no fuera este paraíso de Isla. Un sitio tranquilo y relajado donde los niños tienen la oportunidad de ser niños un poco más de tiempo… excelentes escuelas bilingües y dos culturas; lo mejor de ambos mundos. No obstante la consternación del marido, a lo largo de los años hemos tenido una variedad de animales peludos en casa, pues no puedo dejar de ayudar donde se necesita; no importa cuántas piernas/patas tengan, 2 o 4. La familia en mi ciudad natal realimente no estaban felices con mi decisión de mudarme, pero con tantos viajes en el transcurso de los años, no sólo lo comprenden sino que ahora parecen visitar en frecuencia acelerada, ¡y me encanta!  

¿A qué me dedico? Cuento con la licencia de agente en Bienes Raíces, y desde hace tiempo trabajo para Cozumel Living. Me encanta encontrar el complemento ideal para mis clientes.

Momento favorito como administrador: hace algunos años, me divertí mucho con la publicación sobre un pato…

Para alguien que considera mudarse aquí: No existen preguntas tontas… ¡pregunten lo que quieran! La Isla es muy acogedora y hay mucha gente aquí dispuesta a ayudarles a que su cambio sea tranquilo. No obstante lo amigable que Cozumel es, no es los EUA. Es necesario que se adapten a la Isla pues la Isla no se adaptará a ustedes. Y, seamos honestos, para empezar por eso decidieron venir aquí.

An ex-Connecticut Yankee who has called Cozumel home for over 18 years, Laura ran away to the Caribbean years ago, bumped around the islands teaching SCUBA diving, lost some time in Jamaica, and finally stopped in Cozumel for a 2 week vacation that hasn’t ended yet. Una ex yanqui de Connecticut quien llama hogar a Cozumel desde hace más de 15 años. Laura escapó al Caribe hace años, desplazándose de una isla a otra dando clases de BUCEO. Se dedicó a perder el tiempo en Jamaica y finalmente se detuvo en Cozumel para pasar unas vacaciones de 2 semanas que aún no terminan. Convenciendo a sus padres que pagaran una elegante universidad privada, obtuvo su título en Periodismo y Laura crea semanalmente Cozumel 4You, medios sociales y artículos promocionales sobre la Isla y también es moderadora en el grupo Cozumel 4 You en Facebook que actualmente cuenta con 25,000 miembros. Fabián, s umuy tolerante marido, desde hace mucho tiempo se resignó a no tener vida privada, pues se ha visto implicado en los diversos proyectos y planes que urde Laura. Son orgullosos padres de diversos perros y gatos rescatados. Mientras contempla su paso a través de la vida en el Caribe mexicano,Laura continúa siendo la pesadilla en la existencia de su muy tradicional suegra mexicana.
