2024 Sacred Mayan Crossing Delayed

Strong Winds Delay Annual Riviera Maya Sacred Journey Event

The Sacred Mayan Journey, finally took place on the 24^th and 25^th 2024.  The even,  which normally takes place the first weeks of May, was delayed by strong winds that the entire Riviera Maya, and Cozumel have been experiencing.

In fact, this strong wind has affected not only the Xcaret Mayan Crossing but Cozumel watersports as well since the port captain has closed the island to small boats several times in the past few weeks.

The journey starts at Xcaret, then moves to Cozumel, and finishes in Xcaret. For more information on the crossing – and the costs to attend the Cozumel event – check out the official Xcaret website.   People who have a ticket or invitation will be able to access the event on the new dates without the need for changes.

This year, Xcaret postponed the two-day event until May 24. “In accordance with our philosophy and seeking to offer unique and unforgettable experiences. The safety of the canoes and canoeists, as well as our visitors and collaborators who make this event possible, is and will continue to be our priority.” said Leticia Aguerrebere, from the Directorate of the Sacred Mayan Journey.

Grupo Xcaret appreciates the effort, involvement and understanding of the communities of Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Cancun, Tulum and others who, during these months of preparation and waiting, long to see the journey. The weather is a decisive factor and due to gusts of strong wind and wave conditions, postponing it for a week was evaluated as the best alternative.

Fuertes vientos aplazan el evento anual de la Travesía Sagrada de la Riviera Maya

Por fin se llevó a cabo la Travesía Sagrada Maya 2024, los días 24 y 25. El evento, que por lo general se realiza las primeras semanas de mayo, se retasó debido a los fuertes vientos que se han estado sintiendo en la Riviera Maya y en Cozumel.

De hecho, estos fuertes vientos no sólo han afectado a la Travesía Maya de Xcaret sino que también a los deportes acuáticos de Cozumel, ya que el capitán de puerto cerró , varias veces, la navegación a embarcaciones pequeñas.

La travesía comienza en Xcaret, continúa hacia Cozumel y termina en Xcaret. Para más información acerca de la travesía y los costos para asistir al evento en Cozumel, visite la página oficial de Xcaret. Las personas que dispongan de boleto o invitación podrán ingresar al evento en las nuevas fechas, sin la necesidad de hacer cambios.

Es año Xcaret pospuso el evento de dos días hasta el 24 de mayo. “De acuerdo con nuestra filosofía, y buscando ofrecer experiencias e inolvidables, la seguridad de las canoas y de los canoeros, así como de nuestros visitantes y colaboradores que hacen que este evento sea posible, es y seguirá siendo nuestra prioridad”, indicó Leticia Aguerreere de la Dirección de la Travesía Sagrada Maya.

Grupo Xcaret agradece el esfuerzo, la participación y la comprensión de las comunidades de Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Cancún, Tulum y otras que, durante estos meses de preparación y esperan anhelan ver el viaje. El clima es un factor decisivo y debido a las rachas de fuerte viento y condiciones de oleaje, se determinó que posponerlo una semana era la mejor alternativa.
