Last weekend’s half-ironman or MetLife 70.3 Ironman was a resounding success for Cozumel. The winners in the Elite category, included, Andi Boecherer, Daniel Fontana and Paul Ambrose, in the Men’s category and Liz Blatchford, Melissa Hauschild, and Yvonne Van Vlenken, in the Women’s. All in all over 39 countries were represented over 1,600 Mexican athletes in attendance, including Cozumel’s very own, Tri-Kuzam Triathalon team.
Athletes universally reported how impressed they were with the island’s spirit, as residents turned out into the streets to cheer the competitors on. Visitors also got a chance to check out locally produced goods and products at a week-end long fair in the downtown zocalo.
