Cozumel’s firefighters, police and other members of the island’s civil protection were called in to assist with various wildlife removals throughout the past week:  these included one crocodile and 2 boa constrictor snakes.

Homeowners reported the wildlife on their properties.  One snake was found curled up inside the engine of a car, and both the other boa and the crocodile were approximately one meter each.

All three reptiles were relocated safely to other less populated island locations.

The ecology sub-directorate stated that in coordination with Profepa, they were given the appropriate handling and transfer to where appropriate.
