Cozumel Carnival 2025: Tradition, Celebration and Joy for All

The Cozumel Carnival 2025 officially begins after 4 weekends of pre-carnival, celebrating 151 years of history as the most important holiday for Cozumel residents. More than just a party, the carnival is a family and generational tradition, in which children, young people and adults get involved with enthusiasm in the parades, “comparsas” and presentations.

This weekend and early next week, the island will offer an endless number of events full of color, music and culture. Below, we share the schedule of activities and some tips so that you can enjoy this celebration to the fullest.

Featured Events

Saturday, March 1.

First Grand Carnival Parade: At 6:00 PM on the “malecón”, with floats, comparsas and spectacular costumes.

Performances of Comparsas: Outside the Museum of the Island, the comparsas will demonstrate their talent with vibrant choreographies.

Fantasy and Masks Night: At 10:00 PM, costume contest and presentation of the Queen of the Ladies Show 2025.

Sunday, March 2.

Second Grand Carnival Parade: At 6:00 PM, more floats and live music on the “malecón”.

Tropical Night: At 10:00 PM, Wacaxe bull competition and show of the Kings of the carnival.

Monday, March 3.

“Paint and Run 5K” Race: At 4:00 PM, a colorful race where participants will be sprayed with vibrant powders to the rhythm of music at different points on the malecón.

Ceviche Festival: From 2:00 PM in Benito Juárez Park, an opportunity to enjoy local cuisine with ceviche as the star.

Tuesday, March 4

Third Grand Carnival Parade: At 6:00 PM, last chance to enjoy the parade of comparsas and floats. It is usually the busiest of the 3 days that there is a parade.

In addition to the rides, the comparsas presentations take place outside the Museum of the Island. Don’t miss them! In this note we will share the image with the complete schedule of times and dates, so you can plan your attendance and enjoy each show.

Tips and Recommendations

Drive with caution: During the carnival, it is common to find streets closed due to the comparsas’ presentations before the parades. If you plan to move around the island, consider these interruptions and take the time to enjoy the dances.

Arrive early to events: Crowds are high, so make sure to reserve a good spot to enjoy the parades and shows.

Use public transportation or walk: Streets will be congested, so it is recommended to avoid using cars in the city center.

Hydration and sun protection: Bring sunscreen, a cap or hat, and stay hydrated, especially during daytime dances.

Enjoy with respect and safety: Carnival is an event for the whole family. Always keep children in sight, respect other attendees, and take care of the environment.

Participate and have fun: If you can, join the parades, put on a costume, or simply dance to the music.

El Carnaval de Cozumel 2025 inicia de manera oficial despues de 4 fines de semana de precarnaval, celebrando 151 años de historia como la festividad más importante para los cozumeleños. Más que una simple fiesta, el carnaval es una tradición familiar y generacional, en la que niños, jóvenes y adultos se involucran con entusiasmo en los desfiles, comparsas y presentaciones.

Este fin de semana y principios de la próxima semana, la isla ofrecerá un sinfín de eventos llenos de color, música y cultura. A continuación, te compartimos la cartelera de actividades y algunos consejos para que disfrutes esta celebración al máximo.

Eventos Destacados

Sábado 1 de marzo.

Primer Gran Paseo del Carnaval: A las **6:00 PM en el **malecón, con carrozas, comparsas y disfraces espectaculares.

Presentaciones de Comparsas: En las afueras del Museo de la Isla, las comparsas demostrarán su talento con coreografías vibrantes.

Noche de Fantasía y Máscaras: A las 10:00 PM, concurso de disfraces y presentación de la Reina del Ladies Show 2025.

Domingo 2 de marzo.

Segundo Gran Paseo del Carnaval: A las 6:00 PM, más carrozas y música en vivo en el malecón.

Noche Tropical: A las 10:00 PM, competencia de torito Wacaxe y espectáculo de los  Eeyes del carnaval.

Lunes 3 de marzo.

Carrera “Paint and Run 5K”:  A las 4:00 PM, una carrera llena de color donde los participantes serán rociados con polvos vibrantes al ritmo de musica en diferentes puntos del malecón.

Festival del Ceviche: Desde las 2:00 PM en el Parque Benito Juárez, una oportunidad para disfrutar de la gastronomía local con el ceviche como protagonista.

Martes 4 de marzo

Tercer Gran Paseo del Carnaval: A las 6:00 PM, última oportunidad para disfrutar del desfile de comparsas y carrozas. Suele ser el dia mas concurrido de los 3 que hay desfile.

Además de los paseos, las presentaciones de comparsas se llevan a cabo en las afueras del Museo de la Isla. ¡No te las pierdas! En esta nota compartiremos la imagen con el calendario completo de horarios y fechas, para que puedas planear tu asistencia y disfrutar de cada espectáculo.

Consejos y Recomendaciones

Conduce con precaución: Durante el carnaval, es común encontrar calles cerradas por las presentaciones de las comparsas antes de los desfiles. Si planeas moverte por la isla, considera estas interrupciones y tómate el tiempo para disfrutar de los bailes.

Llega temprano a los eventos: La afluencia de personas es alta, así que asegúrate de reservar un buen lugar para disfrutar de los desfiles y espectáculos.

Usa transporte público o camina: Las calles estarán congestionadas, por lo que se recomienda evitar el uso de autos en el centro de la ciudad.

Hidratación y protección solar: Lleva bloqueador solar, gorra o sombrero y mantente hidratado, especialmente durante los bailes diurnos.

Disfruta con respeto y seguridad: El carnaval es un evento para toda la familia. Mantén siempre a la vista a los niños, respeta a los demás asistentes y cuida el entorno.
