When renovations to the Cozumel Convention center started back in November 2012, the 40 million peso project was expected to be completed in September.  However, recently, Juan Carlos González Hernández, Secretary of Tourism of Quintana Roo, recently announced that construction delays have pushed the completion date back until early December.  Although the new convention center will not be completed in time for the September 22nd, Ironman 70.3, the Secretary of Tourism expressed hopes that the doors will be open in time for the December 1st, Ford Ironman.
