A grassroots group of Cozumel poets have banded together to create “Accion Poetica Cozumel,”  which aims to encourage local writers and poets to express themselves and their art by painting various fences and walls, with permission, throughout the island, in the hopes to inspire and encourage reading and art.  Although response has been positive toward the project, it lacks funding.

Last Friday, the group held their second poetry reading, which was attended by poets of Cozumel, orators, readers, musicians and performers who were eager to share their artistic talents. Poems of Octavio Paz, Germán Solórzano, Freddy Secundino Victor Vivas, and others were read.  For more information on this interesting group, check out their page.
