Although World Water Day actually occurs on March 22, Cozumel school children, municipal officials and CAPA representatives celebrated last Saturday with a small parade to draw awareness to Cozumel’s needs for water conservation.  Although Cozumel island has no official water rationing or conservation program, the parade was planned to educate students and their parents as to how important clean, fresh water is to the island.

Designed by the UN-Water and UN-Energy, World Water Day was created to raise awareness of the inter-linkages between water and energy and the issues faced in providing these resources.  For more information on World Water Day or the UN-system, please visit their official webpage.
