Cozumel & Mexico prepare for a change of President

On September 15th, Juanita Alonso, current president of Cozumel, and Andrés Manuel López Obrador, president of Mexico, made their last Grito de Independencia in their respective positions. Both are preparing to hand over their responsibilities on October 1rst, after having also presented their last government reports.
Andrés Manuel was a president much loved by many, since he implemented many social support policies among the sectors that need it most, however not all of his policies were well received, others that propose a controversial reform to the Judicial Branch. In this reform, judges, magistrates and ministers will be elected by popular vote and not with public competitions as is currently done with the support of Congress to choose the best profiles. Several of President Andrés Manuel’s projects are still incomplete, such as the Mayan train, the refinery Tres Bocas and the transoceanic train. In addition, Mexico contracted the largest external debt in its history. The public debt for 2024 will be 19.4% of budgetary income, when at the beginning of this government it was barely 9.5%. Likewise, the authorized debt for 2024 will be 3.5 times greater than that of 2018. President Claudia Sheinbaum will be in charge of carrying out the projects, solving the problems and making the decision that best suits the country.
Another interesting fact in the elections of June 2nd, held in most of the country, the Morena party emerged victorious, which led to a change of leaders, but not of parties, both at the national and local level. In Mexico, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo will become the first female president of Mexico 200 years after the founding of the Republic. “For centuries, the role of women was relegated to a secondary role where violence was systematically exercised against them and the work of each one of us was made invisible. Starting October 1, 2024, girls, young women and women will have a new reference, a woman of the left, a scientist committed to social justice and a president who will build the second floor of the Fourth Transformation. El pasado 15 de septiembre, Juanita Alonso, actual presidenta de Cozumel, y Andrés Manuel López Obrador, presidente de México, realizaron su último Grito de Independencia en sus respectivos cargos. Ambos se están preparando para entregar sus responsabilidades el próximo 1 de octubre, tras haber presentado también sus últimos informes de gobierno.
Andrés Manuel fue un presidente muy querido por muchos, ya que implemento muchas políticas de apoyo social entre los sectores que más lo necesita, sin embargo no todas sus políticas fueron bien recibidas, otras que plantea una polémica reforma al Poder Judicial. En dicha reforma los jueces, magistrados y ministros serán elegidos por voto popular y no con concursos públicos como se hace actualmente con el apoyo del Congreso para elegir a los mejores perfiles. Varios de los proyectos del Presidente Andrés Manuel aun están sin completar, como el tren maya, la refinería de tres bocas y el tren transoceánico, además México contrajo la mayor deuda externa más grande de su historia la deuda pública para el 2024 será del 19.4% de los ingresos presupuestarios, cuando a inicio de este gobierno era apenas del 9.5%. De igual forma, la deuda autorizada para 2024 será 3.5 veces mayor que la de 2018. Será la presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum que se encargara de concretar los proyectos, de resolver los problemas y tomar la decisión que más le convenga al país.
Otro dato interesante en las elecciones del pasado 2 de junio, llevadas a cabo en la mayor parte del país, el partido Morena salió victorioso, lo que propició un cambio de dirigentes más no de partido tanto a nivel nacional como local. En México, la Doctora Claudia SheinbaumPardo se convertirá en la primera mujer presidenta de México a 200 años de la fundación de la República. “Durante siglos, el papel de la mujer estuvo relegado a un rol secundario donde se ejerció sistemáticamente violencia en su contra e invisibilización a la labor de cada una de nosotras, a partir del 1 de octubre de 2024 las niñas, jóvenes y mujeres tendrán un nuevo referente, una mujer de izquierda, una científica comprometida con la justicia social y una presidenta que edificará el segundo piso de la Cuarta Transformación. Con la doctora Claudia Sheinbaum, llegamos todas y todos”, remarcó. Mientras que en la isla de Cozumel, José Luis Chacón tomará posesión como nuevo presidente municipal.
En el caso dela isla de Cozumel, ha experimentado un incremento histórico en su presupuesto gracias al derecho de saneamiento ambiental. Sin embargo los Cozumeleños siguen esperando que los impuesto se reflejen en la mejora de infraestructura, como el mantenimiento de las calles, actualmente muchas de las avenidas y calles de la isla lejos del centro cuentan con baches, el mantenimiento de los pozos de absorción que en ciertos sectores de la isla todavía se inunda por las fuertes lluvias. En otro caso en la seguridad pública de la isla a dejado mas insegurdades.
