Cozumel Municipal Traffic Officers Warn of Increased Helmet Laws Vigilance

Traffic Officials in Cozumel have recently announced that they will be vigilant in enforcing helmet laws municipal regulations on the use of helmets for scooters and motorcycles.

The Deputy Director of Transit, Domingo Vivas, stated that the fine for non-compliance is $450 pesos.  Cozumel’s helmet regulation went into effect in 2007, and while the majority of riders are in compliance, it is still mandatory for all passengers, including children to wear protective headgear.
