Cozumel Vivo Fest: a call to action for the protection of the island

Cozumel Vivo Fest, a festival that seeks to raise awareness about the importance of nature and the ancestral culture of the island, in addition to promoting well-being and healthy living. .
The festival will take place from July 18 to 22 in Punta Sur, Chankanaab and the city center. It will feature a wide range of activities for the whole family, including:
- Art and culture: An art corridor will be installed where local artists can exhibit their works.
- Wellness: Yoga classes, meditation and other activities will be offered to promote physical and mental well-being.
- Sports: There will be sports activities for all ages.
- Gastronomy: A wide variety of local and regional food will be offered.
- Ancestral wisdom: There will be the participation of grandparents who will share their knowledge about the Mayan culture and the connection with nature.
The festival will also be an opportunity for hotels, restaurants and other sectors on the island to commit to adopting more sustainable practices.
“As a hotel association, we are aware that we live off the nature of this island and that we have to take forceful, clear and, above all, coordinated actions with all the actors who live here to be able to protect its natural wealth,” said Beatriz Tinajero. “This festival is a call to all of Cozumel so that we take responsibility for the protection of the island and that we can have a living Cozumel Island for many more years.”
The AHC has been working together with various local actors to develop the Cozumel Vivo Fest.
“The first thing we did was a diagnosis of all the hotels to identify areas for improvement in terms of environmental management,” said Betriz Tinajero. “Now we are in a training plan that we want to share with other sectors such as beach clubs, restaurants and cruise ships. We can all contribute from our trenches to care for the island.”
The AHC invites the entire community to participate in the Cozumel Vivo Fest, whether as attendees, volunteers or sponsors.
“This is an event that we are giving to Cozumel and we want everyone to take advantage of it in the best possible way,” said Beatriz Tinajero. “Let everyone use their creativity to do their own thing and let’s make this a success.”

La Asociación de Hoteles de Cozumel (AHC) anunció la celebración de la primera edición del Cozumel Vivo Fest, un festival que busca crear conciencia sobre la importancia de la naturaleza y la cultura ancestral de la isla, además de promover el bienestar y la vida sana.
El festival se llevará a cabo del 18 al 22 de julio en Punta Sur, Chankanaab y el centro de la ciudad. Contará con una amplia gama de actividades para toda la familia, incluyendo:
- Arte y cultura: Se instalará un corredor de arte donde los artistas locales podrán exponer sus obras.
- Bienestar: Se ofrecerán clases de yoga, meditación y otras actividades para promover el bienestar físico y mental.
- Deporte: Habrá actividades deportivas para todas las edades.
- Gastronomía: Se ofrecerá una amplia variedad de comida local y regional.
- Sabiduría ancestral: Se contará con la participación de abuelos que compartirán sus conocimientos sobre la cultura maya y la conexión con la naturaleza.
El festival también será una oportunidad para que los hoteles, restaurantes y otros sectores de la isla se comprometan a adoptar prácticas más sostenibles.
“Como asociación de hoteles, estamos conscientes de que vivimos de la naturaleza de esta isla y que tenemos que hacer acciones contundentes, claras y sobre todo coordinadas con todos los actores que vivimos aquí para poder proteger su riqueza natural”, dijo Beatriz Tinajero. “Este festival es un llamado a todo Cozumel para que nos hagamos responsables de la protección de la isla y que podamos tener una isla Cozumel viva por muchos años más.”
La AHC ha estado trabajando en conjunto con diversos actores locales para desarrollar el Cozumel Vivo Fest.
“Lo primero que hicimos fue un diagnóstico de todos los hoteles para identificar áreas de mejora en materia de gestión ambiental”, dijo Betriz Tinajero. “Ahora estamos en un plan de capacitación que queremos compartir con otros sectores como clubes de playa, restaurantes y cruceros. Todos podemos sumar desde nuestras trincheras para el cuidado de la isla.”
La AHC invita a toda la comunidad a participar en el Cozumel Vivo Fest, ya sea como asistentes, voluntarios o patrocinadores.
“Este es un evento que le estamos dando a Cozumel y queremos que todos lo apropien de la mejor manera posible”,dijo Beatriz Tinajero. “Que cada quien use su creatividad para hacer lo propio y que hagamos de esto un éxito.”
