Cozumel. Problems in water supply due to low pressure.

Cozumel, Quintana Roo.- The Commission of Potable Water and Sewerage (CAPA) in Cozumel reported that it will not prevent the drilling of clandestine wells by residents, given the need for water they face due to pressure problems in the supply. Manuel Gurigutia Barrientos, manager of the agency in the municipality, explained that many colonies do not receive the service in an adequate manner.

Gurigutia Barrientos explained that, although the water supply is maintained, it does not arrive with the usual pressure. To mitigate the problem, the CAPA has activated wells that were not used.

Even with these efforts, failures in the supply of electricity have affected the availability of drinking water to the citizens.

This has prevented the re-pumping of water at bases 1 and 4. The CAPA asked the population to take care of the stored water, since the service will be restored once the CFE repairs the fault.

Additionally, the agency is supporting affected users by supplying drinking water through water trucks, especially in areas with greater difficulty in receiving the service. In case of requiring water truck service, Gurigutia Barrientos asked citizens to make their requests formally at the CAPA offices to facilitate the organization.

The agency reiterated its commitment to normalize the water service in Cozumel, while continuing to face the technical and operational challenges that affect the island.

In December, Hugo Garza Sáenz, general director of the Potable Water and Sewerage Commission (CAPA) of Quintana Roo, and Erika Ramírez, director of the National Water Commission (CONAGUA) in the state, were in Cozumel, where they presented the “Water Agenda of the City of Cozumel”, with which they seek to promote strategic drainage and sanitation projects for 2025.

As part of the activities, they made a diagnostic tour of various areas of the island to identify priority needs and define the lines of action that will be integrated into the management of federal and state resources.

Among the projects underway to guarantee a better water supply is the modernization of the collector on 30th Street and the possible construction of a new treatment plant in the south of the island, with the aim of updating and automating the existing infrastructure, which until now has been attended to with temporary solutions.

Cozumel, Quintana Roo.- La Comisión de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado (CAPA) en Cozumel informó que no impedirá la perforación de pozos clandestinos por parte de los habitantes, ante la necesidad de agua que enfrentan debido a problemas de presión en el suministro. Manuel Gurigutia Barrientos, gerente de la dependencia en el municipio, explicó que muchas colonias no reciben el servicio de manera adecuada.

Gurigutia Barrientos detalló que, aunque el suministro de agua se mantiene, este no llega con la presión habitual. Para mitigar el problema, la CAPA ha activado pozos que no se utilizaban.

Aun con estos esfuerzos las fallas en el suministro de energía eléctrica han afectado la disponiblidad de agua potable a la ciudadanía.

Esto ha impedido el rebombeo del agua en las bases 1 y 4. La CAPA pidió a la población cuidar el agua almacenada, ya que el servicio se restablecerá una vez que la CFE repare la falla.

Adicionalmente, la dependencia está apoyando a los usuarios afectados mediante el suministro de agua potable a través de pipas, especialmente en zonas con mayor dificultad para recibir el servicio. En Caso de requerir servicio de pipas Gurigutia Barrientos solicitó a los ciudadanos realizar sus peticiones de manera formal en las oficinas de la CAPA para facilitar la organización.

La dependencia reiteró su compromiso de normalizar el servicio de agua en Cozumel, mientras continúa enfrentando los retos técnicos y operativos que afectan a la isla.

En el mes de diciembre, estuvieron en Cozumel Hugo Garza Sáenz, director general de la Comisión de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado (CAPA) de Quintana Roo, y Erika Ramírez, directora de la Comisión Nacional del Agua (CONAGUA) en el estado, quienes presentaron la “Agenda del Agua de la Ciudad de Cozumel”, con la que buscan impulsar proyectos estratégicos de drenaje y saneamiento para 2025.

Como parte de las actividades, realizaron un recorrido de diagnóstico por diversas zonas de la isla para identificar necesidades prioritarias y definir las líneas de acción que serán integradas en la gestión de recursos federales y estatales.

Entre los proyectos den marcha para garantizar un mejor abasto de agua se encuentra la modernización del colector de la calle 30 y la posible construcción de una nueva planta de tratamiento en el sur de la isla, con el objetivo de actualizar y automatizar la infraestructura existente, que hasta ahora ha sido atendida con soluciones temporales.
