Cozumel’s new President, Fredy Marrufo, has recently announced that one of Cozumel’s most easily identifiable icons, the fountain statue, ‘Atardecer Marino’  will soon be receiving some much needed repairs. The iconic bronze, which was created by  Maria Eugenia Sanchez, has been greeting island visitors since 1995 from it’s prominent location directly across from the Muelle Fiscal.  During the last year, the fountain  had fallen into disrepair and was without water.   Also getting a tune-up is the malecon’s “Fuente del Buzo,”Fountain of the Diver, located just north of the downtown ferry pier.
