Plans have recently been announced to relocate the iconic fountain “Atardecer Marino,” or “Sunset Sailor” in English, to an undisclosed location. The fountain, which is located in front of Cozumel’s downtown pier, has been one of the first landmarks arriving ferry passengers have seen since it’s installation in 1995.  The announcement was made by Victor Vivas Gonzalez, director of the Port Authority in Cozumel, during his press conference regarding the new yacht berth, which will begin construction next month.

The new yacht berth, which will be constructed between the downtown pier, and the esplanade, will have space for 20 – 30 boats up to 40 feet in length.  The $12 million peso project has been planned to attract upscale boating enthusiasts as well as remodel Cozumel’s downtown waterfront. To get a glimpse of what the project entails, please check out this news clip from Canal 10. This story originally appeared in the weekly Cozumel 4 You NEWS – the island’s number one source of positive information about our island!  Be sure and subscribe to the weekly NEWS to find out all the island events!…
