Cozumel’s Rancho Universo Horse Sanctuary: How You Can Help

Right now Rancho Universo is going through some very hard times. The Ranch had a lot of water damage after the heavy rains! We were totally flooded, lots of trees fell down, and the stables – being palapa suffered the most. Some of the main beams got damaged and needless to say the palapa roof was destroyed. While we re-build, we’re not able to provide as much of our therapy services, animal rescue, and take care of our horses veterinary needs. What we desperately need now is to rebuild the stable and provide a safe and dry place for the horses, as well as the constant need for feed for our horses.

At Rancho Universo we rescue abandoned, neglected and abused horses (although we also have our fair share of cats and dogs) we retrain them and rehabilitate them and they in turn help heal special children. Horses have been known to be healing since the Ancient Greeks! Horses were used to provide healing to warriors after battle…in medieval times they were used to treat gout and back problems. Now Horse Therapy is used for an array of mental, physical and emotional problems, from depression to cerebral palsy, as well as health debilitating bulimia and anorexia, to teaching people to work as a team and get balanced. Son orgullosos padres de diversos perros y gatos rescatados.
