I arrived to Cozumel in 1988, when I was 4 years old; happy to join my mom’s family who had been able to leave Mexico City and move to the beautiful Island of Cozumel.

When my parents got married they came to Cozumel on their honeymoon and stayed at Playa Azul hotel. My dad owned a travel agency that handled tours to the southeast, traveling frequently to the Island and bringing people through Cancun, Cozumel and Merida.

My aunt Paty married an Englishman, Brian, a musician and sea lover. Their wedding present was their honeymoon in Cozumel, and both fell in love with the Island. They later lived for a couple of years in England and then decided to come to Cozumel in search of a new life. They started a handcrafts business. Brian and Paty were so happy in the Island that they convinced my grandparents to leave their busy city life behind and move to Cozumel, which they immediately felt like home, and delighted gathered with family and friends enjoying their new life very much.

My aunt Lety married Alejandro and decided to spend their life in the place they had spent their happiest vacations, with their family. Paty realized the need for teachers on the Island and convinces Rosy to move with her family to Cozumel and with great pleasure joined the team.

Later, my parents -Martha and Raymundo-, my brother and I, decided to move to the Island as my parents loved it since the first day; as all the family was already living here, we had spent beautiful summers under the sun of Cozumel, so moving here was extremely thrilling for me. The whole family, joined together by Cozumel’s charm, made great excursions to the other side of the Island sharing time with cousins, uncles and grandparents, having a great time in the Caribbean Sea.

I grew up enjoying the wonders offered by the Island and, naturally, Cozumel became home.Nowadays, I am a proud Cozumelenian and truly grateful with life as I grew in this little part of Paradise.
