While many Cozumel residents and visitors are familiar with the street named after Dr. Adolfo Rosado Salas, there are probably not so many individuals who are aware exactly who the doctor was and how he played a part in the history of the island.  Although he was not born on the island, Adolfo Rosado Salas moved to the island in the 1940s.  He was extremely well liked and often provided consultations free of charge.  He was so popular that after his death in 1943 grateful residents renamed the street that he lived in his honor.

Although his house no longer stands, there is a marble and concrete plinth with his likeness atop at the intersection of Calle Adolfo Rosado Salas and Avenida Rafael E. Melgar.
