Cozumel’s Columbia lagoon was the recent location of National Geographic’s latest documentary on American crocodiles.  The crocodiles in the Punta Sur Eco-Park are monitored by a joint effort by the FPMC (Cozumel Foundation of Parks & Museums) and the Department of Ecology and Conservation.  Strangely enough, several of the adult crocodiles exhibited signs of malnutrition, which is a red flag for the entire eco-system.  Blood and tissue samples were collected for analysis and comparison at that time as well.
