With the goal of 100% of Cozumel’s children having a full vaccination record, nearly 4,000 vaccines were given out, free of cost as part of National Health Week.   Vaccinations included polio, AH1N1 influenza, measles, tetanus, and rubella.   Originally scheduled to run from February 22 – 28 the program was such a success that in just two days, nearly 50% of the vaccinations were administered.    In fact, Municipal health officials have announced that the program will be extended until March 14th.
