Road Closures For this Weekend’s 7th Annual Cozumel Ironman

The 7th Ironman Cozumel will be held this weekend.  On Sunday, the elite race is scheduled to start at 6:40 am at Chankanaab National Park.    The entire downtown waterfront will be closed off so spectators can cheer on the competitors, and there will be road closures near the southern hotel zone.  The sold out event, attended by 2,800 athletes and their supporters from all over the world will arrive on Cozumel Island for this long-awaited event.

Este fin de semana tendrá lugar el 7º Ironman Cozumel. La exclusiva competencia comenzará a as 6:40 en el Parque Nacional Chankanaab. Todo el malecón estará cerrado para que los espectadores puedan animar a los competidores y habrá cierre de vías al transito vehicular en la Zona Hotelera Norte. Las ventas del evento fueron abarrotadas; y llegarán a la Isla de Cozumel 2,800 atletas y sus seguidores procedentes de todo el mundo para participar en este evento largamente esperado.

Cozumel’s Public Library to be Remodeled & Extended

Cozumel’s public library, called “Gonzalo de Jesús Rosado Iturralde” will soon undergo renovations, which will include the addition of an air-conditioned reading room.  The public library, which according to news sources,  now serves 6,300 users, and was originally built in 1976.  The new addition will have both internet and air-conditioning as well as a separate entrance. 

The “Gonzalo de Jesus Rosado Iturralde” library is located on the corner of Av.  Pedro Joaquín Coldwell y Calle 8 Norte.

Se remodelará y ampliará la biblioteca municipal

Dentro de poco tiempo, la biblioteca municipal de Cozumel “Gonzalo de Jesús Rosado Iturralde” será objeto de renovaciones que incluirán una sala para lectura con aire acondicionado. De acuerdo a fuentes noticiosas la biblioteca municipal que fuera construida en el año 1976, actualmente presta servicio a 6,300 usuarios. La nueva expansión contará con internet y aire acondicionado así como entrada independiente.

La biblioteca “Gonzalo de Jesús Rosado Iturralde” se encuentra ubicada en la esquina de Avenida Pedro Joaquín Coldwell y calle 8 norte.

Humane Society Pets of the Week

Botas - Male Puppy, 4 months, weight 9 Kg. This puppy tried to get shelter in the San Miguel Church and the priest shooed him out. Then he went to a scooter rental and the owner scared him with a broom. Then he got inside a parking lot and the employee tied him up to see if someone was looking for him. Two boys witnessed the whole scenario and picked him up to bring to HSCI. He is super playful and active. He might get bigger due to his big paws.

Enriqueta – Kitten, 8 months.  Enriqueta was found on a beach by a girl when she was there with her family. Sadly the family didn’t want her so since she is a neighbor of one of our HSCI supporters she delivered Enriqueta to her neighbor so she could bring the kitten  to the HSCI. She is gorgeous and has a beautiful mustache mark on her mouth. She loves to chase birds or feathered toys.

Las Mascotas de la Semana de la Sociedad Humanitaria

Botas – Es un cachorro de 4 meses que pesa 9 kg- Este cachorrito quiso albergarse en la iglesia San Miguel y el padre lo ahuyentó. Luego el perrito se dirigió a una rentadora de motocicletas y el propietario lo asusto con una escoba. Después se metió a un estacionamiento y el empleado lo amarró esperando que alguien lo estuviera buscando. Dos chicos fueron testigos de toda experiencia, lo recogieron y trajeron a la Sociedad Humanitaria. Es sumamente juguetón y activo. Es muy posible que crezca más debido al gran tamaño de sus patas.

Enriqueta – Una gatita de 8 meses. Mientras una chica estaba en la playa con su familia, encontró a Enriqueta. Tristemente la familia no la quiso, pero ya que son vecinos de una colaboradora de la Sociedad Humanitaria, entregaron a Enriqueta para que la trajera al albergue. Es preciosa y tiene una bella marca en el bigote. Le encanta perseguir aves o juguetes de plumas.

2015 Hurricane Season Nears an End

The 2015 Hurricane Season officially comes to an end at the end of November, and as predicted this year’s hurricane season saw lower than normal activity in the Yucatan Peninsula.
