Cozumel is eagerly awaiting the arrival of Swiss gold medalist, Nicola Spirig, where she will compete in International World Cup Triathlon, to be held this Sunday, October 6th, 2013.  A reigning Olympian has never competed in a triathlon event in Mexico, meaning Cozumel will be the first to host such an honor in the entire republic.

The World Cup Triathlon is held on five continents, and hails world-class athletes from around the globe, including Claudia Rivas, who represented Mexico in the 2012 Olympics.   The event consists of a 750 meter swim, a 20 kilometer bike and a 5 kilometer run.
