Deep Sea Fishing Tournament

The annual deep sea fishing tournament of Cozumel Island, called the Rodeo de Lanchas Mexicanas, will be take place on May 17 & May 18. Grand prize is a brand new 2009 Hummer, with the first five places all taking automobiles of some sort. Top two crews will receive a cash award and motor scooters.This is the 36th year of the tournament, which draws boats from all over the Yucatan Peninsula.    Last year there were over 180 boats participating, which was the biggest year yet.  Word has it they’re expecting even more this year.

El Torneo de pesca en la Isla de Cozumel, Llamado rodeo de lanchas Mexicanas, donde se lleva acabo los dias 17 y 18 de Mayo. El gran Premio Mayor es una Hummer y los siguientes lugares unos automoviles y la dos mejores tripulaciones reciben dinero y Motos.
Este es el Torneo 36th De donde vienen barcos de toda la Peninsula de Yucatan. El año pasado participaron 180 embarcaciones esperando que este año se rompa este record.   

Feria del Cedral

The feria del Cedral starts on Tuesday the 28th of April.  Originally started over 150 years ago to celebrate the first catholic mass on the island, it’s really become more of a regional fair for the small town.  At the fair, both residents and visitors can enjoy the many food stands, games, dancing and shopping displayed throughout this week-long festival. Particularly of note are the “Head of the Boar” and “The Ribbons” traditional dances which are performed on May 3rd Day of the Holy Cross (Día de la Santa Cruz ). The event also features cattle exhibitions, races, rides and bullfights.  Details are posted on  the chatboard.

Feria del Cedral

La feria del Cedral empieza el dia 28th de Abril. Originalmente empezo la celebracion hace 150 anos atras donde se llevo acabo la primera misa catolica, esto viene de la region del centro originalmente. Tanto los turistas como la gente del pueblo disfrutan de esta feria junto con comida, juegos y bailes de la region durante una semana. Particularmente los bailes especiales que se realizan el dia 3 de mayo llamado el Día de la Santa Cruz. Para mayores detalles pueden preguntar en el chatboard.
