Cozumel 4 You on Live TV!

Don’t forget to join us and Canal 5 today, Thursday, as we host our weekly live TV show “Cozumel4 You” This week we’ll  be joined by Andrea, from the Humane Society with the Pet of the Week.  Laura Johnson is going to be showing us some salsa moves and telling us about the classes she offers.  We’ll also have Greg Dietrich, from Galeria Azul on hand to show us some of the interesting works of art he has at the Gallery.

Esta semana nos acompañara Andrea, de la Sociedad Humanitaria con su sección de la Mascota de la Semana. Laura Johnson nos enseñara algunos pasos de salsa y nos informara sobre las clases que ofrece. Yo Limpio Cozumel Beach Clean up

Please join us this Saturday,July 25th, for a beachside clean up!! We'll be meeting up at "El Galion" and cleaning Playa San Martin anytime from 8 am - 1 pm. Architect Henry de Gaspe Domville will be on hand to explain his project, Yo Limpio Cozumel, by gathering together a band of volunteers, sponsors and friends to clean up the other side of the island.   

This project gets no government support or funding, however; in the month of June, Henry and his volunteers removed 1,500 kilos of garbage from beaches on the other side of the island.

El arquitecto Henry de Gaspe Domville de Mi Casa en Cozumel, ubicada en la quinta avenida entre 7 y 9, se ha animado a juntar a un grupo de voluntarios, patrocinadores y amigos para hacer labores de limpieza del otro lado de la isla. Este proyecto no cuenta con apoyo o financiamiento de gobierno, sin embargo, durante el mes de Junio, Henry y sus voluntarios recogieron 1,500 kilogramos de basura de las playas del otro lado.

2nd Annual Fiesta Cozumel Party
The 2nd annual “Fiesta Cozumel,” will take place on Tuesday August 4th at the Playa Azul Beach from 6 – 9 pm.  The party, which promises to be a night of fun, features live music and free beer, all for an extremely economical entrance fee of $70 mn! Enjoy an evening of live entertainment featuring Sonny Winters, Chad & the CBC Trio, and friends!  Food and drinks will also be available for purchase!

Tropa Descalza

(En homenaje al General Maya Cecilio Chi, líder del movimiento libertario indígena conocido como la “Guerra de Castas” que duro 54 años)

¿Quien armo a tu tropa descalza General? ¿Por que no la abate la metralla?
Es que acaso el azote de Dios, el Huno Atila, les entrego la espada de Marte.
O fueron cobijados por Julio Cesar bajo el filo acerado de Crocea Mors.
Quizás en el consejo, en Camelot,  tras bélicos argumentos los Caballeros de la Mesa Redonda, ordenaron a Lancelot que entregara a tus indios su Arondight.

Mira a ese guerrero maya, General, su cabeza parece pirámide y sus orejas están horadadas mientras que su puño blande furioso el arma del Irlandés Fergus MacRóich, Caladbolg; Invencible recorre tu tropa descalza la jungla del Mayab, se rinde el poderoso jaguar, ruedan las cabezas de los enemigos, los blancos, los criollos, los ricos; su sangre empantana y nutre la tierra. Los indios se cobijan bajo la afilada sombra de Hrunting, la espada que Beowulf dejo donde anida el quetzal.

Observa aquella escuadra de guerreros estrábicos, General, van tatuados del cuerpo al combate, casi desnudos, no conocen el miedo pues saben que pelean con la espada del profeta Mahoma, Zulfiqar. Aquel otro ¡un tigre! inmenso en su ira, blande  a Durandel que paso por las manos de Carlomagno, de Rolando El Terrible y de la misma Juana de Arco, la de las visiones apocalípticas.

¿Quien podrá derrotar a tu tropa descalza General?  Si fueron armados por el Campeador Ruy Díaz quien, solidario con tu lucha libertaria les entrego La Colada que arrebató en justa lid a Berenguer y aun la misma Tizona, que hasta hoy se atesora en España. Así marchan a la gloria General, mira como brillan, en lontananza, los aceros de sus machetes, de sus coas. Mira, General ¡como estampa sus huellas tu tropa descalza sobre el sagrado suelo del Mayab!

Barefoot Warriors

(Homage to General Cecilio Chi, leader of the 54 years long freedom struggle fought by the indigenous Mayas known as the “Guerra de Castas”)

Who gave arms to your barefoot warriors, General? How come they don’t fall under the shrapnel? Was it the “wrath of God”, Atila the Hun who gave them Mar’s sword; or were they covered under the sharp steel of Crocea Mors, the mighty sword of Julius Cesar.
Or was it maybe the council, back in Camelot, after judicious deliberations by the Knights of the Round Table, who gave Lancelot the order to surrender to your Indians his Arondight.

Look at that Mayan warrior, General, his head looks like a pyramid and his ears are pierced while his fist furiously draws the fearful weapon of the Irish Fergus MacRóich, Caladbolg: Undefeated run your Barefoot Warriors through the dark jungles of the Mayab; even the proud jaguar surrenders, the heads of the enemy roll aground, the whites, the creoles, the rich; their combined blood pools and nourish the earth. The Indians take protection under the spell of Hrunting, left to them by Beowulf where the quetzal nests.

Watch that platoon of crossed eyes warriors, General, most of their bodies are tattooed and they go to combat almost naked, they have no knowledge of fear because they know that they are fighting with the sword of the Prophet Mohammad, Zulfiqar. Over there! Look at that one, a tiger! Immense in his anger, he’s holding Durandel, the same weapon used by Charlemagne, Rolando “The Terrible” and even by Joann de Arc, of the apocalyptic visions.

Which army is going to defeat your Barefoot Warriors, General? If they were armed by the immortal Campeador, Cid Diaz, who, willfully joined your freedom struggle and turned his powerful Colada, taken from the dying hands of Berenguer and also his very personal Tizona, the jewel of Spain. They are marching to glory, General, see how it shines, in the horizon, the steel of their machetes and their coas . Look at them, General, look how your Barefoot Warriors print their footsteps upon the sacred ground of the Mayab!
