Cozumel is awash in traditional folkloric dances, as more than 700 teachers from 29 states throughout Mexico visited Cozumel for the XLII National Congress for Folkloric Dance Teachers.  The Congress, which took place from July 13 – 20, included a exhibition at the “Museo de la Isla” featuring traditional dress.  Organized in part by Institute for Research and Promotion of Mexican Dance (Iddmac) , the festivities also included many public events in Cozumel’s parks to highlight the rich cultural heritage these dances embody.
